Apart from the stuck tailgate, our entry into Egypt was trouble-free - also grace to our friends from Volkswagen Egypt. They waited for us at the airport and accompanied us with two VW Tiguans. They also gave us the chance to shoot some car... to car pictures from our way through their home country and were our scouts at numerous military check points.
The people were on our side - anything else was not. Three days in the Touareg, the long journey through Turkey and the flight to Egypt left us tired, and dense fog on our way to Cairo did not make it easier.
In Cairo we got stuck in the rush hour, and temperatures were already above 30°C. On our way to Aswan via Luxor, past the temple complex, our board computer showed 43°C, and the asphalt on the street was shiny and viscous. It felt like a slap in the face when we opened the doors on our first fuel stop...Ms. Hansen with her office chain in Nordkapp is lucky, we think. But we have a mission to complete and the book from Nordkapp with personal dedication is well stored.
However, in the evening Egypt´s desert enchants us with the most beautiful sunset we´ve had for now. In a few hours we´ll reach Sudan, which we´ll cross tonight - hopefully without any complications. Sometime during the night we´ll also have completed half of the stretch. Keep your fingers crossed that it will also be half of the time - then, we would be possibly record-breaking!Egypt was hard on us
